Itinerary

Arrival in Addis Ababa
Day 1:
Arrive at Bole International Airport. Meet your birding guide and transfer to your hotel. If time permits, enjoy light birding around the city parks or gardens.
Full Day Birding in Addis Ababa
Day 2:
Spend the day birding in and around the capital. Visit Entoto Hills, Gullele Botanic Garden, and possibly Sululta Plain.
Drive to Debrezeit (Bishoftu)
Day 3:
Travel to the scenic crater lakes of Debrezeit. Spend the day birding around Lakes Hora, Babogaya, and Bishoftu Guda.
Drive to Abiata-Shala National Park
Day 4:
Continue to Abiata-Shala National Park. Explore the park's lakes and woodlands, known for their impressive bird populations.
Full Day Birding in Abiata-Shala & Langano
Day 5:
Enjoy an extended day birding around Lake Langano and nearby woodlands. Excellent chance to spot raptors and endemic species.
Drive to Lake Hawassa
Day 6:
Head south to Lake Hawassa, stopping en route for roadside birding. In the afternoon, bird along the lakeshore and visit the lively fish market.
Hawassa – Wondo Genet Forest
Day 7:
Morning birding around Hawassa, then drive to Wondo Genet, a lush forested area with excellent forest birding trails.
Drive to Bale Mountains National Park (Dinsho)
Day 8:
Ascend into the highlands to Dinsho, the gateway to Bale Mountains. Afternoon birding in the Juniper forests.
Sanetti Plateau & Harenna Forest
Day 9:
Spend the day exploring the Sanetti Plateau (high-altitude birding) and the Harenna Forest (subtropical habitat).
Drive to Awash National Park
Day 10:
Descend from the highlands and drive to Awash National Park, one of Ethiopia’s best savannah birding destinations.
Full Day Birding in Awash National Park
Day 11:
Bird along the Awash River, the Ilala grasslands, and the hot springs area. Visit the gorge and acacia woodland zones.
Awash – Return to Addis Ababa
Day 12:
Drive back to Addis Ababa. Stop at Lake Beseka for final birding. Evening farewell dinner and optional souvenir shopping.
