Itinerary
Addis Ababa – Semera – Lake Afdera
Day 1
Fly or drive to Semera, gateway to the Danakil. Continue across desert plains to Lake Afdera, surrounded by active salt mining fields. Take a relaxing float in the hypersaline lake, then enjoy sunset views over shimmering salt flats.
Dallol & Salt Desert Expedition
Day 2
Travel deep into the Danakil in rugged 4x4s to reach Dallol, where colorful acid springs, steaming craters, and sculpted salt mounds create an alien landscape. Witness Afar salt miners carving slabs and loading camel caravans—a tradition unchanged for centuries.
Erta Ale Volcano – Lava Lake Experience
Day 3
Drive to the base of Erta Ale, one of the few active lava lakes in the world. Begin a sunset hike up the volcano (3–4 hours), arriving at the rim to watch the lava glow and swirl in the dark. Camp near the crater and feel the earth’s fiery heartbeat through the night.
Erta Ale – Semera – Addis Ababa
Day 4
Descend at dawn and begin your return journey across the desert to Semera. Optional afternoon flight or drive back to Addis Ababa. Tour ends with transfer to hotel or airport.
